This guide to Coffs Harbour restaurants and bars will help you find the best option for you based on budget, taste and location.
The main areas to find Coffs Harbour Restaurants are in the harbour and along Harbour Drive. In the town itself there are lots of nice little cafes but not many actual restaurants.
The Tide and Pilot in the harbour has two floors. The cafe downstairs serves breakfast and lunch and the fancier upstairs restaurant serves dinner. It is a lovely spot to have breakfast and they do a great fresh fruit salad with yoghurt, wonderful pancakes with maple syrup and excellent omelettes amongst other options. From its terrace you get a great view of the boats in the marina with Muttonbird Island in the background. I would thoroughly recommend this place.
Just as you enter the harbour you will see the Yacht Club which has a lovely upstairs deck with a fabulous view over Park Beach. They serve standard Aussie pub food and the fish and chips is a very good option. You have to order at the bar and then a waitress will bring the food to your table.
Another great option in the marina is the Fishermen’s Co-operative which claims to serve the freshest and best seafood in town.
Along Harbour Drive you will find a wide range of Coffs Harbour restaurants with 2 Thai, a Vietnamese, an Indian, a Chinese, an Italian and a few Australian eateries. Our favourite option on this street is the Hog’s Breath Cafe in the Jetty Village Shopping Centre. This is a member of a chain of restaurants that specialises in Prime Rib Steak but also serves great ribs, burgers and wraps amongst other dishes. It is a great place to go if your feeling particularly hungry as their servings are fairly big.
At the southern end of jetty beach you will find the Deep Sea Fishing Club which has a restaurant. It has an upstairs deck with fantastic views of Muttonbird Island and the sea.
There are plenty of cafes in the town centre and it is difficult to recommend one more than another but one that we do particularly like is the Starfish Cafe. It has very good service with very friendly waitresses. They open for breakfast and lunch during the week and are located in a lovely little square which is a great spot to read your newspaper or simply people watch. The fruit salad and yoghurt is a good breakfast option and for lunch they do great burgers and other interesting dishes.
Coffs Harbour Bars and Pubs
Outside of the big cities in Australia you don’t tend to find many bars and pubs and Coffs Harbour is no exception
The Surf Club next to the Hoey Moey backpackers on Ocean Parade has a bar with lots of wooden benches in the beer garden and they sometimes have live music on.
There is a bar in the Yacht Club in the harbour which also does food as mentioned above.
The Pier Hotel on Harbour Drive is a traditional Aussie pub which is favoured by the locals.
In the centre of town you can find the Plantation Hotel and the Coffs Hotel on the Pacific Highway running through town.
